Our collective group of teachers are devoted to your child and their needs
Our History
Mrs. Joanne Holmes Hundley of Lake Butler, Florida, had a lifelong love for children, families, and her community. At just 30 years old, she embraced her entrepreneurial spirit and, with faith in God, founded Rainbow Daycare in 1985. What began as a home-based daycare soon grew into a warm, welcoming childcare center created to meet the needs of local families. Through Mrs. Joanne’s dedication, vision, and hard work, Rainbow Daycare expanded to serve up to 50 children and employed a team of four caring staff members. She was known for her warm heart, innovative spirit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. To know Mrs. Joanne was truly to love her. She never met a stranger. After courageously facing two cancer diagnoses, Mrs. Joanne chose to spend more time enjoying life with her close friends and family. Knowing how important quality childcare was to the community, she entrusted the future of her work to her family. In January 2001, her daughter, Mrs. Kim Hundley Bailey, purchased the business and established Little Rainbow’s Learning Center. Today, the center continues Mrs. Joanne’s legacy of faith, compassion, quality care, and dedicated service to children and families in the Lake Butler community.
Our Mission
At Little Rainbow’s Learning Center, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and high-quality educational environment for every child. Through the Frog Street and Abeka curricula, we support each student’s spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development. We are committed to creating a welcoming learning community where children feel secure, valued, and inspired to grow; and where staff members are empowered to thrive alongside them.
Our Curriculum
Little Rainbow’s Learning Center uses the Frog Street curriculum alongside Abeka, a Christian-based curriculum designed to support children at every stage of early learning. Both programs provide age-appropriate, hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and encourage a lifelong love of learning.
In addition to academic development, our program nurtures each child’s social, emotional, and physical growth. A typical day in our VPK classrooms may include learning Bible verses, problem-solving activities, reading and writing practice, rhyming, singing, storytelling, and engaging literacy-focused experiences.
